{Around Here} Yeah, I’m just a girl!

So, yesterday the band No Doubt came to town and guess who was there?!! I was!! The day was less than perfect-losing our tickets, stuck in traffic for 2 hours, even though we live less than 10 minutes away from the venue, waiting in line for a half hour to grab tickets at will call (can I just say that the Amp. needs to have a special section for people who are buying tickets and one for people picking up tickets already bought!), and we missed the opening act, Paramore (so sad!)

BUT, what an amazing show! I thought my night was shot, b/c as much as I have been trying to live my life with a positive influence, I was about to cry-actually, I did tear up a bit, because I thought I was going to miss the first song that ND opens with. Poor hubby. I still managed to rock it out and had a perma-smile on my face.

I have loved this band since I first found out that I didn’t have to listen to what my parents listened to in the car. ND opened me up to a whole new life of rock, punk, and ska at the young age of 10. My life was forever changed. I remember turning on MTV (when it was still good) and watching my first music video from them. No longer did I just rely on top 40 or r&b, I figured out I could actually go out and buy a CD and jam out in my room. I don’t think my dad ever did figure out why I liked sitting in my room and just chilling out to music or have some Green day, Nirvana, or Foo Fighters on while I was doing my homework (totally made me focus better!) Yes, I still fell into the traps of boy bands when I was 14, but my heart has always belonged to the ones who get less airplay than popular music.

And, dare I say, I’m Just a Girl is even better at a concert.

If you were at the concert, holla back! (<–see what I did there??) I want to know how your experience was and if you managed to get through the traffic!
